For almost all Camplust motorhomes there is no need for a special driving license as all of them are under 3,5t. The normal “Auto-Führerschen” (B or 3) is quite sufficient!

Only for our Premium Grand California 680 with 4 seats you need the C1 driving license (up to 7,5t), because it is loaded to 3,88t. But we have marked that in the booking process, so don’t worry.

Of course, this depends on your driving style, but we have the following averages for you to give you a rough idea:

  • VW Grand California 600/680: 9.5l / 100km
  • VW T6.1 California: 8l / 100km

Of course! We offer optional bike racks for rent.

Absolutely! You can venture into the minus degrees with both the VW Grand California 600 and the T6.1 California!
There are a few special features, of course, as you can imagine:

  • Heating: It is very important that the temparture doesn’t go below 0 degrees inside your camper! Since you have water in the pipes, the heater must always be running/programmed so that nothing freezes inside.
  • Water: Here the camping minds are divided as far as the handling is concerned. However, where everyone agrees is that the water in the camper must not freeze, otherwise pipes and tanks could be damaged whicht will be expensive!
So if you want to use the water system in the camper also in winter you must always have the heating programmed and the waste water tank open (especially with the Grand California, because here the waste water tank is underneath instead of in the car).
  • Gas: Gas is only special for the Grand California in winter, because you heat with gas here (just like at home). However, you do not have a fixed gas connection, but gas bottles (you have room for 2 x 11kg propane bottles). So you always have to make sure you don’t run out of gas. When one bottle is empty, you can easily switch to the other bottle using the rotary control.

Admittedly, this topic sounds very scary, but it is quite simple! You will almost always find a place to empty it at campgrounds, sites and designated aid stations.

It is important that you do not empty your toilet/sewage in nature!

Of course, we will show you exactly how it works on your vehicle during the briefing. Here is a brief overview:

  • Grand California
    • Sewage: The lever for emptying the sewage can be found on the outside, just in front of the rear tire on the driver’s side.
    • Toilet: The flap to get to the toilet cassette can be found on the driver’s side, at the level of the bathroom. It is secured together with the central locking system. Briefly pull the lever and remove the cassette.
Empty, rinse, empty, toilet tab in and ready! Very simple.
  • California:
    • Sewage: The lever for emptying the sewage can be found inside, in the left kitchen cabinet, in the lower left corner.
    • Toilet: If you have booked an optional Porter Potti you will receive a fully functional camping toilet with a standard cassette, similar to the one of the Grand California. Here simply disconnect the cassette from the toilet, empty, flush, empty, toilet tab in and ready! Very simple.

For each “toilet tank filling” you need special toilet fluid for odor reduction and better decomposition.

You will receive 3 pre-portioned sachets with said liquid for your rental. You can buy more sachets from us.
You will also receive a full roll of toilet paper from us.

It is very important that you only fill drinking water into the fresh water tank! You can fill the tank from the outside, the tank lid for the fresh water is marked by a water tap symbol and can be opened with an extra key.

Please make sure that you do not fill any fuel here! Sounds unimaginable at first, but it happens nevertheless…

You can get drinking water for free or for very little money at almost any campsite/pitch or aid station. We always recommend adding so-called silver ions to preserve the drinking water. You can get these at any camping store.

Very easy! Cooking is done with gas in our Camplust motorhomes. Means you have in your camper 2 hobs on which you can cook in principle everything you like, quite normal and almost like at home.

You can conveniently start the flame via the piezo ignition and you’re ready to go.
You should always pay attention to the following:

  • a window should be open for safety
  • make sure you have the glass covers open and never close the cover without turning off the flame!
  • after cooking, close the gas shut-off valve again (in each case in the cabinet under the hob)

It all depends on you and what you have in mind. Here are a few key points:

The Grand California 600 is very pleasant if you are looking for something luxurious and like to have a little more space. For sleeping you have space for 2 adults and 2 children (the loft bed measures 1.9/1.6 x 1.2 meters). If you like to spend more time in the car, we would recommend the Grand California.

The California with pop-up roof is perfect for a road trip or a stylish camping vacation! It can accommodate 4 adults for driving and sleeping, as both beds are long enough. If you like to be outside a lot, we would recommend the California here.

If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to write us!

  • The VW Grand California 600 has room to drive for 4 people and to sleep you have room for 2 adults and 2 children (the loft bed measures 1.9/1.6 x 1.2 meters).
  • The VW Grand California 680 offers space for driving for 2 people and for sleeping you have space for 2-3 people (the bed measures 2/1.9m x 1.67m).
  • The VW T6.1 California Ocean with pop-up roof offers space for 4 adults to drive and sleep, as both beds are sufficiently long.
  • The VW T6.1 California Beach with pop-up roof offers space for 5 adults to drive and 4-5 people to sleep.

You always fill up with diesel at all Camplust campers.

Since our motorhomes have the new Euro 6d-ISC-FCM they also have an AdBlue tank. If you are asked by the board computer to refill a certain amount of AdBlue you don’t have to worry at first, you will be warned a few thousand km before. However, you must make sure that the AdBlue does not run empty, otherwise the engine will stop.
It is also important not to fill up more AdBlue than you are asked to by the board computer.

AdBlue is available at most gas stations and at almost all highway service stations.

Our campers all run on AdBlue to meet the latest Euro standard. You will always receive a sufficiently fueled camper and therefore do not have to worry!

If you are nevertheless prompted by the on-board computer to refill AdBlue, you can obtain this at most service stations.

It is important that you do not fill more than the on-board computer tells you, but also not less, otherwise the warning message may not disappear. Then turn on the ignition for 30 seconds without starting the engine to “reset” the warning message.

In principle, no for the time being. You will always get a gas bottle from us. If you have a very high demand or are on the road a bit longer, you may have to take care of a refill.

Here it is important to pay attention to what you should be looking for.

The Grand California 600 uses 11kg propane cylinders (the gray ones). These are loaner bottles, meaning when you buy a refill at a gas station/building supply store/supermarket, you get a completely new, filled bottle in exchange for your old, empty one. You pay only the filling

The California uses 2.75kg butane gas bottles (the small blue Campingaz bottles). These are purchase bottles, means if you buy a refill at a hardware store you will get your exact bottle refilled.

First of all, you need to know that there are 2 batteries in campers. Once the normal starter battery, as in any car, and then the “living battery” for refrigerator, lights, etc.. Both are charged while driving (or when you are on shore power).

How long the battery will last without shore power and without moving the camper depends on your consumption.

On average, however, the following values can be assumed:

Grand California: 48 hours

California: 72 hours

You may have already guessed, no rocket science either 🙂

Our Grand California 600 has a gas/electric mixed heater. This means that you can heat self-sufficiently with your gas supply (just like at home). But also, optionally, you can heat in mixed mode with electricity as soon as you are connected to shore power (for example, at the campsite or pitch).

Our California have a diesel heating with which you can stand completely self-sufficient. You just have to make sure that your tank and battery are not completely empty. To reassure you, you will not wake up in the morning and the tank is completely empty because the heater was thirsty! On average, the diesel heater consumes max 0.8l per hour.

Although different, both are possible with our Camplust campers!

The California offers you an original outdoor shower directly at the rear and a camping toilet can be booked as an option.

The Grand California 600 offers you not only an outdoor shower at the rear, but also a comfortable indoor bathroom with toilet, shower, sink and mirrored cabinet.

The easiest way to crank out the awning is when you are working with another helping hand. One cranks the handle, the other successively continues to set the awning legs.

It is important to make sure that the crank is not left hanging unattended, as this is readily responsible for chipping paint.

Also, make sure that one leg of the awning is always set lower than the other, so that any rain can run off.

The handbrake on the Grand California is designed so that you can still turn the seat even with the handbrake on. This means that the handbrake will fall down again after being applied (the handbrake is nevertheless applied).

To release it, the handbrake button must be pressed. With the button pressed, apply the handbrake to just above resistance and then release it with the button still pressed.

Our Grand California 680s all have solar, and of our Grand California 600s, half have solar.
We will gladly try to note your request here, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee that your rental camper will then be equipped with solar.

The California models, the Nuggets and the large Family Campers do not have a solar option.

Yes, we put a lot of emphasis on Isofix on the back seat when configuring our campers.
Depending on the model, there are 1-2 Isofix capable seats.

Please note that especially with narrower rear seats (such as the Grand California) despite 2 seats with Isofix mounting points, not necessarily 2 child seats fit next to each other, because some seats are too wide for this.

In various European countries you have to pay tolls or buy vignettes on the freeways. Under bussgeldkatalo.org you find there very helpful articles how you can prepare yourselves for it.
